Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) occurs when the flow of urine goes the wrong way. This condition is more prevalent in infants and young children. Urine, which is the liquid waste product from the body, normally flows one way. Urine travels down from the kidneys into tube like structures called ureters, then into the bladder where it is stored until is exits the body through the urethra.
